Michigan Week 2010 begins May 14(published in the May 1, 2010 Ad-visor & Chronicle) Michigan Week 2010 begins Friday, May 14 with the annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast held at 7:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Featured speakers are Scott and Clare Loughrige, Co-Founding Lead Pastors of Crossroads Church and Ministries in Marshall. They say of their lives and faith:
With a vision of starting a Christ-centered, life-filled church, Scott and Clare and their children came to live in the Marshall area in 1992. The Loughriges were sent from the pastoral staff of a congregation in the Detroit area to join 10 committed families to make the vision of Crossroads Church (www.ccmonline.org) a reality. Crossroads is a dynamic, growing congregation having a strong impact on the community, region, and world. An important part of the Crossroads touching the world story, has been reaching out to ministry partners from Haiti all the way across the globe to China. The work in Haiti (topic of the Breakfast presentation) consists of five schools and four churches in various parts of the country. For more than 15 years Crossroads has been involved in the feeding and educating of about 1,000 students on a daily basis. Crossroads has also initiated and supported other ongoing projects in Haiti such as the "School Box Project" as well as the "Goat Project." Through these projects and others, Crossroads is helping address the spiritual, educational, and physical needs of the most desperate national environment in the western hemisphere. With the 2010 hurricane the work has escalated intensely, resulting in a fundraising campaign with planes filled with supplies reaching the need in Haiti. Scott and Clare are strategists and builders whose gifts are used in motivational teaching, imparting destiny and hope into the lives of men and women. In addition to their commitment to their local church, they speak at conferences, seminars, retreats to men, women, couples, and students on a variety of subjects. As a ministry team they challenge men and women to grow in relational integrity. They love life, adore each other, and passionately lead God's people. After their unending love for God and each other, their most treasured relationships are found in their three brilliant children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and two precious grandsons. Cost of the upcoming breakfast is $5 per person and can be paid at the door. Reservations can be made in advance by calling the Chamber at 269-781-5163. |
