The Life of Your Dreams: Week 4 Invest

You and I have but one life to live.  Invest wisely.

A Few Portfolio Adjustments:

1.  C______________________________________(a)

·        You Are the Dream

Ephesians 1:4  For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

Romans 8:29  For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

2.  F _____________________________________(b)

·        Live From a Burning Center

Luke 8:40-56 (TNIV) 40Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. 41 Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus' feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.  As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

 3.  V________________________________(c)

·        You Were Created to Come

Matthew 14:22-32 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24 but the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. 25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." 28 "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."29 "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.

4.  P______________________________(d)

·        Your faith was never meant to simply benefit you.

Mark 2:1-12  3Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

5.  C________________________(e)

·        Rid yourself of slow downs and entanglements.

Hebrews 12: 1-2   Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Life Group Conversations

1.  If you knew how much longer you had on earth, how might that change your life?

2.  When it comes to the use of your time, do you feel you waste more time on your weakness or on your strengths being misdirected? What is an action you could take to be more focused?

3.  What are some of your core values?  Why are they important to you?  Is your life a good representation of your core?

4.  Do you find it easy or difficult to celebrate someone else’s success?  Why?

5.  Have you ever invested in someone else’s dream without expecting a return?  Describe.

6.  What is something that entangles or slows you down?  What can you do today to help turn that around?

Spiritual Practices:   Make a list of you gifts/talents.  Read Matthew 14:22.  See yourself bringing that gift to Jesus as He asks you to walk out on the water.  What are the waves that might keep you from giving your gift?  What fears cause you to sink.  Who is on your boat?  What does the “other side” look like?  Journal these thoughts in your dream time this week.

Breath Prayer: (breathing in) Jesus lead me

                            (breathing out) in my dreams.
