I.                   I.   a 21st century look at jesus’ gospel and why it still refreshes those it touches

 

A.                  A.  The church’s main purpose for Existence is for PROCLAMATION.

 

 

 

B.                   B.  Paul captured the essence of this Proclamation–Mindset when he said:  “Thus, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

II.                II.  jesus equated our mission to an act of service – first!

 

A.                  A.  John 13:13-17 "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. PRAYER: God you have made me in Your image.  You served human beings even though You are God.  You taught your disciples to bring the good news through action and servanthood, not just words.  Make me a living proclamation of the love of God.  Allow my words to be a reflection of my life of serving.  I want to be like You, Jesus. Amen
