Imagination Exercise
Your
imagination is your preview of life's coming attractions. —
Albert Einstein
Many
people have grown up in environments hostile to the imagination. Did you have
permission to imagine or dream in your childhood, at home, in school, in your
religion? What dream have you lived into? What dream have you let go of? What
dream do you want permission from God to dream?
Take an hour this week to look for images in the
formations of nature, faces, art, animals and/or buildings. Let your ima-gination open! Journal images
that come to you spontaneously in association with your feelings and thoughts.
Draw pictures of what you encounter. Read fiction by J.R.R. Tolkien
or C.S. Lewis, John Bunyon, Frank Peretti.
Tell stories you know or make up your own and share them with friends and
family. This will help fuel your journey of imagination.
Breath Prayer: Jesus lead me, in my dreams.
