What is the For the Sake of Others: Where Formation and Mission Meet Retreat?
St. Paul said it this way-"I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, topresent your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God-what is good and pleasing and perfect."
We also affirm the words of our teacher, Dr. Ruth Haly Barton, "Spiritual transformation is the process by which Christ is formed in us, for the glory of God, for the abundance of our own lives, and for the sake of others. (Galatians 4:19; Romans 8:29; Romans 12:1, 2) On this retreat we spend time exploring these words and Dr.Robert Mulhollands invitation to be "In God for the world rather than In the world for God." Our doing God's work will flow from our being in close relationship with God. That dear friends will be a powerful force for good in the world.

Why should I consider Crossroads Transforming Retreats as a next step?
Crossroad’s Church is a community that offers a series of Transforming Retreats once a quarter, allowing you to focus on knowing, discovering and building a deeper spiritual relationship with God.
Over the course of the retreats, Senior Pastors Scott and Clare Loughrige will lead you through Scripture and Prayer practices that include understanding transformation within a Christ-centered journey; developing spiritual disciplines and life rhythms that help you become more aware of God's presence in your everyday life; and experiencing the love of Christ through a transforming community.
For those who commit to the two-year process, Retreats begin Friday evenings at 7 p.m. and conclude Saturday afternoons around 3:30 p.m. Participants who wish to remain in Retreat overnight are welcome to stay at the church, but this is not a requirement of participation.
Each Retreat is themed and participants learn practical direction on practicing spiritual disciplines both individually and within the community. The two-year community focuses on:
Living the vision of Romans 12:3: “Be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
The sacred commitment of: “arranging our lives for spiritual transformation so we can discern and do the will of God.” And a shared definition of: “spiritual transformation: the process by which Christ is formed in us for the glory of God, for the abundance of our own lives, and for the sake of others.
Clare and Scott use the Sacred Rhythms, written by Ruth Haley Barton, as the primary retreat guide. They have been with Dr. Barton and the Transforming Center, a community of Pastors and Christian leaders committed to leading from a strong soul, for 14 years. Crossroads is a part of the Transforming Church Network, a community of churches that believes transformation is central to the Gospel, therefore it must be central to the message of their church. IScott and Clare offer these retreats to create space for Romans 12:2 to become reality in the lives of those who participate - "Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God - what is good and acceptable and perfect."
We believe this retreat model is the most effective transformation/discipleship tool they have ever seen or utilized in their 26 years as Crossroads Senior Pastors, and more than 30 years in ministry.
Do something profoundly good for your soul - and join us on this journey!
